Introduction to Glass Fusing and Slumping
Submitted by Mantisglass on 21 January 2012 - 3:31pm
Come and learn the basics of fusing and slumping glass at Mantisglass studios on Brixton Hill!
This 6 hour workshop aims to equip you with the basic knowledge of how glass responds to heating and cooling in the kiln, give you confidence to cut glass like an expert and, most importantly, let you create your own project(s). Glass will take a minimum of 48 hours processing in the kiln so collection of your project will need to be arranged after the workshop.

Location : Mantisglass Studios, Brixton Hill
Date & time : 28 April 2012 - 10:00am - 4:00pm
What to bring : Closed shoes - boots are ideal. Dress warmly - there is a gas heater in the studio but it does get cold in winter! Please also bring a packed lunch, or money to buy your lunch nearby. Tea and coffee provided. The cost of the workshop covers tuition and use of equipment, there is an additional charge for materials and kiln firing. The cost of materials depends on your choice of glass and size of project but I estimate a minimum cost of £15. Kiln firing charges will be £5 per project. This covers the cost of electricity and ceramic kiln paper which prevents glass sticking to the kiln shelf.
