I used a mixture of merino and Icelandic wool to make this felt pot. Merino wool is quite soft; Icelandic wool is coarser and helps to support the structure of the pot.
The outside is made with green, red and purple merino wool, while the inside is lined with pale pink merino. In between these layers is a layer of grey Icelandic wool to provide strength.
The pot is made by wet-felting, rubbing and rolling the wool fibres together with hot water and olive oil soap until they felt together. The result is strong but soft.
Obviously you cannot put water in the pot, though you could put a (very) small vase inside it if you want it to hold flowers. But mostly it's a decorative object in its own right.
