Brixton Market

Brixton Market - A Place for local Makers & Bakers to sell their beautiful creations and be part of a wonderful community

Hi Guys
It's the Brixton Market Traders Federation CIC here. We're just a small group of people who have a great vision, to create a platform for local makers to showcase what they do, inspire the community to shop locally and support local talent and make Brixton an incredible place for people to visit.
The Brixton Station Road Markets have been running for a few months now, and we have loved seeing the rd transform from an underused space to an incredible creative outlet that has not only made a difference in new traders lives but to those who have had a stall/shop on that street for years (some for over twenty!). We've heard stories of people having to employ new staff to keep up with the demand the new markets have bought them.
So we thank everyone who has participated in someway or another to make these fantastic markets something special for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you at our next market

Stuart - CEO of the Brixton Market Traders Federation - who is also the world famous 'Stuart the Watchman' and has been at the market for over 20 years

John Gordon - Operations Manager - otherwise known as the man who gets to the market at 4am to put the stalls up and has been at the market for over 40 years

Lisa Watson - Market Coordinator who just loves seeing everyone have a place to do their thing!
:)

Starting in May, Brixton Makers' Market will be offering two stalls for £10 each.

The aim is to support and encourage new makers and help them grow their business by offering them a discounted stall. If you are a new trader (you have not traded at a market before) you can apply to have a stall for three consecutive makers markets, or share with another maker, making it only a fiver each. After this time you can apply to have a stall at the normal rate. You also need to have public liability insurance.

Calling all local bakers to the Great Brixton Bake-Off!

The Brixton Market Traders Federation CIC is hosting an extravaganza of culinary delight on Saturday, 28th April. The Great Brixton Bake-Off will be a showcase of the best that local bakers have to offer.

Whether you are a professional baker with a small business or a home-cooking whiz-kid, we invite you to come take a stall and enter the first ever Great Brixton Bake-Off!

The event will be held on Station Road, the venue for the weekly Station Road Community Markets, and participants will have the opportunity to enter the best of their delicious treats into the Bake-Off competition.

You may enter into five categories: Cakes; Cupcakes; Biscuits & Bites; Fruit Pies; and Bread. There will also be a grand prize awarded to the yummy treat judged Best in Show!

All of the prizes are donated by our sponsor Brixton’s own Morley’s department store and their fabulous kitchenware department. If your baking “proves” worthy you will not want to miss out on the fabulous prizes (sorry, we love a baking pun).

The tough decision of whose baking is best will fall on our panel of judges made up of local business owners and Brixton foodies.

Not only might you get to win one of the prizes, but your stall will provide the opportunity to sell your delicacies to the great Brixton public in the rising star market that is Station Road.

The Station Road Community Markets have created quite the buzz over the past few months thanks to the weekly themed Saturday markets. Our aim is for the market to establish increased community involvement and feature the high quality goods and services local traders and small businesses provide.
